Yogurt Ciambella
17/11/2023The yogurt ciambellone is a classic simple and soft cake, perfect for breakfast or a snack. Here’s how to prepare it.
Ingredients
- 1 container of natural yogurt (125g, which can then be used as a unit of measure)
- 3 containers of flour
- 2 containers of sugar
- 1 container of seed oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 packet of baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- Grated zest of 1 lemon (optional)
- Icing sugar for decoration (optional)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (356°F) and grease a bundt cake pan with a little butter or oil and dust lightly with flour.
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until the mixture is frothy and light in color.
- Add the yogurt and continue mixing.
- Slowly pour in the container of oil, making sure to blend all the ingredients well.
- Fold in the sifted flour, the baking powder, and the pinch of salt. If desired, also add the grated lemon zest for a touch of freshness.
- Mix the batter until smooth and lump-free.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for about 35-40 minutes. To check if it’s ready, you can stick a toothpick in the center of the ciambella: if it comes out dry, it’s done.
- Let the ciambella cool in the pan for a few minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- If you like, you can dust with icing sugar before serving.
Fun Fact
The yogurt ciambellone lends itself to many variations: you can add chocolate chips or nuts to the batter to enrich it, or replace some of the flour with cocoa to make a chocolate version. Also, the yogurt can be plain or flavored, for an extra note of flavor.
