Witch Hats
17/11/2023The “Witch Hats” are a sweet treat typical of the Halloween period, but also fun to prepare and eat on other occasions. These treats are cute and quite simple to make. Here is the recipe to make “Witch Hats” in Italian style, using cookies and chocolate.
Ingredients
- Round cookies (the most common are butter cookies or digestive type)
- Waffle cones for ice cream
- Dark chocolate
- Colored sprinkles, sugar decorations, or others for decorating
Preparation
- Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler, making sure not to burn it.
- Once melted and smooth, dip the wider base of each waffle cone into the chocolate, one by one, then immediately roll the edge in the sprinkles or sugar decorations to decorate. This will create the colored brim typical of a witch’s hat.
- Next, brush a little dark chocolate on the center of each cookie, which will act as “glue”.
- Carefully place the inverted waffle cone in the center of the cookie, forming the hat. Be sure to center the cone so that the hat stands straight.
- Allow to cool until the chocolate has solidified, so that the cone adheres well to the cookie.

These treats are perfect for a themed party or to do with kids. In Italy, chocolate and themed sweets are gaining popularity during the holidays, and even though Halloween is not a traditionally Italian celebration, recipes and customs are spreading in the Bel Paese as well. Plus, you can vary the recipe according to your tastes, perhaps using milk or white chocolate and different decorations.
