White Lasagna with Salmon, Prawns, and Spinach

This dish combines the delicate flavors of salmon and prawns with the creaminess of a béchamel sauce and the distinctive taste of spinach. A dish that fills the senses with its richness and flavor. Here is the recipe step by step.

Ingredients

  • 9 sheets of lasagna pasta (fresh or pre-cooked)
  • 300 g of fresh salmon
  • 200 g of shelled prawns
  • 300 g of fresh (or frozen) spinach
  • 500 ml of béchamel sauce
  • 50 g of grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper as needed
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Nutmeg (optional)
  • Butter (for the baking dish)

Preparation

  1. Start by preparing the béchamel sauce. Melt some butter in a saucepan, add flour and cook for one minute. Gradually pour in hot milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, until a thick sauce is obtained. Add salt, pepper, and a grating of nutmeg to taste.

  2. Clean the spinach, wash it and wilt it in a pan with a drizzle of oil and a clove of garlic until it has wilted. Remove the garlic, squeeze the spinach to remove excess water, and roughly chop.

  3. Cut the salmon into cubes and sauté the shelled prawns in a pan with a drizzle of oil, salt, and pepper.

  4. Butter a baking dish and spread a bit of béchamel on the bottom.

  5. Arrange the first layer of lasagna sheets (if using pre-cooked, follow the instructions on the package to hydrate them).

  6. Distribute a layer of salmon, prawns, and spinach over the lasagna sheets, then cover with béchamel and a sprinkle of Parmesan.

  7. Repeat the process creating more layers until all the ingredients are used up, finishing with béchamel and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan.

  8. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 °C (356 °F) for about 40 minutes or until the lasagna is golden and flaky on the surface.

  9. Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes before serving, so it sets and is easier to cut.

Curiosity

Lasagna is a dish traditionally rich and hearty, often associated with Italian cuisine and particularly with the city of Bologna.
