Watermelon Sorbet

Watermelon sorbet is a refreshing and delicious dessert, ideal for hot summer days. Here is the recipe to prepare it:

Ingredients

  • 500 g of watermelon (seedless)
  • 100 g of sugar
  • The juice of one lemon
  • 50 ml of water

Preparation

  1. Start by cleaning the watermelon, removing the rind and seeds if present, and cutting it into pieces.
  2. In a small saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved to make a syrup. Then let it cool.
  3. Put the watermelon chunks in a blender and blend until smooth.
  4. Add the cooled syrup and lemon juice to the watermelon puree and mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and operate it according to the manufacturer’s instructions to thicken the sorbet. If you do not have an ice cream maker, you can pour the mixture into a container and put it in the freezer, stirring every hour to prevent ice crystals from forming.
  6. When the sorbet has reached the desired consistency, it is ready to be served.

Curiosity

Sorbet is a preparation made with water, sugar, and fruit or different flavors. It has a grainier texture than ice cream and is highly appreciated for its refreshing qualities. In Italy, it is often served as an “intermezzo” between courses during long meals to “cleanse” the palate.
