Here is the recipe for the Apple Water Cake, a light and easy-to-make variant:

Ingredients

  • 3 apples
  • 250 g of all-purpose flour
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 100 ml of vegetable oil
  • 200 ml of water
  • 16 g of baking powder
  • 1 sachet of vanillin
  • A pinch of salt

Preparation

  1. To start, peel the apples and cut them into small pieces or slices, as you prefer.
  2. In a large bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder and add the sugar, a pinch of salt, and the vanillin.
  3. Add the oil and water to the mixture of dry ingredients and mix with a hand whisk or an electric mixer until you get a smooth and homogeneous batter.
  4. Add the apple pieces to the batter and gently combine, making sure they are well distributed.
  5. Pour the batter into a previously buttered and floured cake pan or one lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake the cake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 40-45 minutes. Always do the toothpick test: if it comes out dry, the cake is ready.
  7. Allow the cake to cool before unmolding it and, if you wish, dust with icing sugar before serving.

The Apple Water Cake is a very delicious dessert that lends itself to many variations. You can also add a bit of cinnamon or grated lemon zest to the batter to further enhance the flavor. The simplicity of this cake also lies in the choice of using water, which makes the dessert light and suitable for all those who want to reduce their consumption of dairy products.
