Vibrant beer skewers

Vibrant beer skewers are a tasty and original version of marinated skewers. Beer adds a unique touch of flavor and a tenderizing effect on the meat. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 500g of beef (preferably lean cuts like sirloin or tenderloin), cut into cubes
  • 2 colorful bell peppers, cut into pieces
  • 1 red onion, cut into wedges
  • 250ml of light beer
  • 2 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • 1 sprig of fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil for brushing
  • Toothpicks or wooden skewers

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, combine beer, garlic, rosemary, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine the ingredients.
  2. Add the cubes of meat to the marinade and make sure they are completely immersed. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, better if overnight.
  3. If you are using toothpicks or wooden skewers, soak them in water for at least 30 minutes before use to prevent them from burning during cooking.
  4. Light the grill or prepare the barbecue. Meanwhile, remove the meat from the marinade and drain well.
  5. Assemble the skewers by alternating pieces of meat, bell peppers, and onion.
  6. Brush the skewers with a little extra virgin olive oil and place them on the hot grill.
  7. Cook the skewers, turning them occasionally, for about 10-15 minutes or until the meat is cooked to your liking.
  8. Serve the vibrant beer skewers hot immediately.

Remember to remove the rosemary from the marinade before adding the meat to avoid burning on the grill. Enjoy your meal!

Curiosity

Marinating in beer is not just a method to flavor the meat, but also to soften it. The acids naturally present in beer help break down the muscle fibers in the meat, making it more tender. This technique is widespread in various culinary cultures and can be customized with different types of beer depending on the desired flavor profile.
