Bicolour Cake

I can provide you with the recipe for the Bicolour Cake, a classic dessert that plays with two different colors and flavors, usually chocolate and vanilla. It’s a simple sweet to prepare and is liked by both adults and children alike.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of all-purpose flour
  • 200 g of granulated sugar
  • 100 g of soft butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 packet of vanillin or vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Milk (if necessary)

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, cream the soft butter with the granulated sugar until you have a creamy mixture.
  2. Add the eggs, one at a time, continuing to mix after each addition.
  3. Gradually incorporate the sifted flour with the baking powder, a pinch of salt, and the vanillin, using a wooden spoon or a spatula to avoid lumps.
  4. Divide the mixture into two equal parts in two separate bowls.
  5. To one of the two portions, add the two tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa and mix well. If the mixture is too thick, you can add a bit of milk to achieve the same consistency as the other mixture.
  6. Prepare a Bundt cake pan by buttering and flouring it, or lining it with parchment paper.
  7. Pour the two mixtures into the pan, alternating spoonfuls to create the bicolour effect. You can use a skewer or the tip of a knife to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 35-40 minutes. Do the skewer test before taking it out of the oven: if it comes out clean, the cake is baked.
  9. Let the cake cool before removing it from the pan.
