Turkey Straccetti with Cherry Tomatoes

Turkey Straccetti with Cherry Tomatoes is a simple and quick dish to prepare, perfect for a light yet tasty lunch or dinner. Here’s the recipe and how to make it.

Ingredients

  • 400g of turkey breast
  • 250g of cherry tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • A handful of fresh basil
  • 1 glass of white wine (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by cutting the turkey breast into strips, meaning thin and elongated pieces.

  2. Wash the tomatoes and cut them in half or into quarters depending on their size.

  3. In a pan, heat two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and add the garlic cloves to flavor the oil. Once golden, remove the garlic.

  4. Add the turkey strips to the pan and sauté over high heat until golden brown on both sides.

  5. If you decide to use white wine, deglaze the turkey strips with a glass of wine and let the alcohol evaporate before continuing.

  6. Lower the heat and add the cut cherry tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Cover with a lid and cook for about 10 minutes, until the tomatoes have softened slightly but are still firm.

  7. At the end of cooking, add a handful of torn fresh basil to enhance the aroma.

  8. Plate the turkey strips with the cherry tomatoes and serve immediately, accompanied by a light side dish such as a fresh green salad or steamed vegetables.

Curiosity

Straccetti, meaning “hand-torn pieces” in Roman dialect, is a versatile dish accessible to everyone: in Italian cuisine, the technique of “tearing” the meat to reduce it into smaller pieces that cook quickly is often used to create delightful recipes in very little time.
