Tortellini with cream and ham

Here is a classic Italian recipe to prepare delicious tortellini with cream and ham.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams of tortellini (preferably stuffed with meat)
  • 150 grams of cooked ham, cut into cubes or strips
  • 200ml of cooking cream
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese to taste
  • Nutmeg (optional)

Preparation

  1. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the tortellini following the instructions on the package, usually just a few minutes if they are fresh.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Add the cooked ham to the pan and let it fry for a couple of minutes.
  4. Lower the heat and pour the cream into the pan with the ham. Mix well and let the cream warm up without reaching boiling.
  5. Drain the tortellini al dente and transfer them to the pan with the cream and ham.
  6. Stir the tortellini with the sauce and let them flavor for a minute, so they absorb the seasoning.
  7. Adjust salt and pepper and, if you desire, a sprinkle of nutmeg.
  8. Serve hot, with plenty of grated Parmesan on top.

If you do not have cooked ham, you can replace it with speck or bacon, which will give a smokier flavor to the dish. For a touch of green, you can also add chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy your meal!
