Tomino burger

The Tomino burger is a delicious variation of the traditional burger that leverages the rich and creamy flavor of Tomino, a typical cheese from Piedmont. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 Tomini (fresh Piedmontese cheese)
  • 400 g of ground beef
  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 red onion
  • Some lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Preparation

  1. Start by shaping the ground beef into patties. Divide the meat into four equal parts and mold them into discs about 2 cm thick. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Heat a grill or non-stick pan and cook the bacon until crispy. Set aside on paper towels.
  3. Use the same grill or pan to cook the burgers: 3-4 minutes per side should be enough for a medium cook. Remember not to squash the burgers with the spatula to keep the juices in that make them soft and succulent.
  4. While the burgers are cooking, slice the tomato and red onion, and wash and dry the lettuce leaves.
  5. When the burgers are nearly done, place a Tomino on top of each one and let it warm up and start to melt slightly.
  6. Cut the buns in half and, if you like, toast them lightly on the grill or in the pan.
  7. Assemble your Tomino burger: on the bottom half of the bun, place the lettuce, then the burger with the warm Tomino, followed by a slice of crispy bacon, some slices of red onion and tomato.
  8. Close the burger with the top half of the bun and serve warm.

The Tomino burger combines the Italian tradition of the good table with the culture of American fast food, creating a truly unique taste encounter.

Curiosity

The Tomino is a versatile cheese that lends itself to various types of recipes. If you can’t find Tomino, you can replace it with another soft cheese that melts easily, such as scamorza or buffalo mozzarella, although the taste will be slightly different. If you like, you can also add your favorite sauces to the burger, such as mayonnaise, ketchup, or mustard.
