Truffles

Truffles, also known as Chocolate Truffles, are delicious small confections that can be made with just a few ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 250 g of high-quality dark chocolate
  • 120 ml of fresh cream
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • Cocoa powder for rolling the truffles
  • Optional: liqueur (such as rum, Amaretto, or Grand Marnier) or flavor extracts

Preparation

  1. Break the chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heat-resistant bowl.
  2. Heat the cream in a saucepan until it is almost boiling. As soon as small bubbles begin to form on the sides, remove it from the heat.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the broken chocolate and let it rest for a minute to melt the chocolate.
  4. Add the butter in pieces and, if desired, a spoonful of liqueur or a few drops of your favorite flavor extract. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and uniform.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the mixture cool to room temperature before placing it in the refrigerator for about 2 hours, or until it is firm enough to be shaped.
  6. Once firm, use a spoon to scoop portions of the ganache and roll them between your hands to form balls.
  7. Finally, roll the chocolate balls in cocoa powder until they are evenly coated.

Truffles are best if left to rest in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. They may be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container.

Curiosity

The name “Truffle” is due to the appearance of these sweet treats, similar to the black truffles found in the earth. Although they have nothing to do with mushrooms, the name evokes their prized appearance and their delightful nature.
