Sweet Mini-Focaccias with Chocolate Chips

Ingredients

  • 250 g of all-purpose flour
  • 50 g of granulated sugar
  • 1 packet of dry yeast (7 g)
  • 125 ml of lukewarm milk
  • 50 g of soft butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 100 g of chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for decoration)

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour with sugar and dry yeast.
  2. Gradually add the lukewarm milk, stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
  3. Mix in the egg and soft butter, working the dough until it becomes smooth and even.
  4. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, trying to distribute them evenly.
  5. Add a pinch of salt and knead for a few more minutes until you get a smooth and elastic dough.
  6. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place free from draughts for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in volume.
  7. Take the risen dough, divide it into small portions resembling balls, and slightly flatten to form mini-focaccias.
  8. Place the mini-focaccias on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, cover with a cloth, and let rest for another 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  10. Bake the mini-focaccias for about 15-20 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  11. Remove the mini-focaccias from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
  12. If desired, before serving, sprinkle the mini-focaccias with powdered sugar.
