Strawberry Tiramisu

Strawberry tiramisu is a spring and summer variation of the classic Italian tiramisu. Here is the recipe for a delicious strawberry tiramisu with an Italian touch.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of fresh strawberries
  • 400 g of ladyfingers
  • 500 g of mascarpone
  • 4 fresh eggs (with yolks and whites separated)
  • 100 g of granulated sugar
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon of orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier or Cointreau, optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for garnish)

Preparation

  1. Wash the strawberries thoroughly, dry them, and cut half of them into small pieces. The other half can be sliced thinly to use for the final decoration.
  2. In a bowl, mash the chopped strawberries with a fork, adding the lemon juice and orange liqueur. Leave to macerate for about 10 minutes.
  3. Separate the yolks from the whites of the eggs.
  4. Beat the yolks with the sugar until you have a light and fluffy cream. Then incorporate the mascarpone to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff.
  6. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the mascarpone mixture, trying not to deflate it.
  7. In a rectangular pan, arrange a layer of ladyfingers lightly soaked in the strawberry maceration juice.
  8. Spread a layer of the mascarpone and yolk mixture over it, then distribute the macerated strawberries.
  9. Continue with another layer of ladyfingers and complete with the mascarpone cream.
  10. Level well and decorate with the strawberry slices set aside.
  11. Place the tiramisu in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, better if overnight, to allow the flavors to blend.
  12. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar.

Trivia

The classic tiramisu is said to have origins in Veneto or Tuscany and is traditionally prepared with coffee and cocoa. The strawberry version is without coffee and therefore also more suitable for children. The freshness of the strawberries adds a touch of lightness and makes this dessert perfect for spring and summer.

Tip: For a non-alcoholic version, you can omit the orange liqueur or replace it with a bit of orange juice to intensify the fruity flavor.
