Strawberry Mille-Feuille
17/11/2023Strawberry Mille-Feuille is a classic and delicious dessert. It is a dessert that combines the crunchiness of puff pastry with the sweetness of cream and the freshness of strawberries. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 3 sheets of ready-rolled puff pastry (about 230 g each)
- 500 g of fresh strawberries
- 500 ml of pastry cream
- Powdered sugar (for dusting)
- 300 ml of whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
Preparation
- Start by preheating your oven to 200 °C.
- Unroll the puff pastry sheets and dock them with a fork to prevent them from puffing up too much during baking. Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes or until they turn golden and crispy. Allow them to cool.
- Meanwhile, wash and slice the strawberries. Set them aside.
- Whip the cream with two tablespoons of granulated sugar until it is stiff, and gently fold it into the pastry cream to obtain a lighter and fluffier cream.
- Now, it’s time to assemble the mille-feuille. Place the first layer of puff pastry on a plate and spread a third of the cream over the surface. Add a layer of strawberry slices.
- Repeat the process with the other two layers of puff pastry, cream, and strawberries.
- Finally, dust the surface of the mille-feuille with powdered sugar for a decorative finishing touch.
Did you know?
The mille-feuille is a dessert found in various versions across Europe, known also as “napoleon” in some countries. Its origin is uncertain, but it has become a classic of French and Italian pastry. The strawberries add a fresh and slightly tangy note that perfectly complements the sweetness of the cream.
For an even more Italian touch, you might decorate the mille-feuille with a spray of orange liqueur or limoncello over the strawberries to lightly flavor them before assembling the dessert. Enjoy your meal!
