Strawberry Grape Sorbet

Strawberry grape sorbet is a delicious and refreshing dessert, perfect for finishing a meal or as an afternoon snack. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 500 g of ripe strawberry grapes
  • 150 g of sugar
  • The juice of 1 lemon
  • 100 ml of water
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by washing the strawberry grapes under running water and then drying them carefully.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare a simple syrup by dissolving the sugar with the 100 ml of water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and then let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Turn off the heat and let it cool completely.
  3. Remove the grape berries from the stems and put them in a blender or food processor. Add the lemon juice and blend everything until it is smooth.
  4. Strain the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the grape skins and seeds. Press well with a spoon to extract as much juice and pulp as possible.
  5. Add the cold syrup to the grape juice and mix well.
  6. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and follow the instructions for your machine to churn it. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a container and place it in the freezer, stirring every 30-45 minutes to break up the ice crystals until the sorbet is the desired consistency.
  7. Serve the strawberry grape sorbet in small bowls, perhaps garnished with a few fresh mint leaves.

Trivia

Strawberry grape has a particular sweetness and an intense aroma, perfect for creating a sorbet. This fruit is not available all year round, so this is a recipe to exploit during the period when grapes are in season. In Italy, sorbet is often served between courses in a more formal meal to “cleanse the palate”.
