Strawberry Brownie Cake

The strawberry brownie cake, which we might call a “Strawberry Brownie,” combines the density and richness of brownies with the sweet juice of fresh strawberries. Here’s how to prepare it:

Ingredients

  • 200 g of dark chocolate
  • 150 g of butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 150 g of sugar
  • 100 g of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 300 g of fresh strawberries
  • A pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for decoration)
  • Vanilla extract or vanillin (optional, as a variant)

Note: If you don’t have baking powder, you could substitute it with a mix of baking soda and cream of tartar, or use self-rising flour.

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate with the butter in a double boiler. Once melted, mix well and set aside to cool.
  3. In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy. If you wish, add vanilla extract or vanillin for an extra hint of flavor.
  4. Gently fold the melted chocolate into the egg and sugar mixture.
  5. Sift the flour with the baking powder and a pinch of salt, then add it to the previous mixture.
  6. Wash and cut the strawberries into pieces; pat them dry with kitchen paper to remove excess moisture and fold them gently into the mixture, distributing them evenly.
  7. Line a square baking tray with parchment paper, pour in the batter, and level with a spatula.
  8. Bake for about 25-30 minutes. The brownie is ready when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly moist but not liquid.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely in the tray.
  10. Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.

Serve this dessert with a dusting of powdered sugar or perhaps paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a true parade of flavors.

Curiosity

Brownies are a classic of American pastry, but the addition of fresh fruit like strawberries is a delicious way to give a touch of freshness and a more summery flavor to this dense chocolate dessert.
