Strawberry Brownie Cake
17/11/2023The strawberry brownie cake, which we might call a “Strawberry Brownie,” combines the density and richness of brownies with the sweet juice of fresh strawberries. Here’s how to prepare it:
Ingredients
- 200 g of dark chocolate
- 150 g of butter
- 3 eggs
- 150 g of sugar
- 100 g of all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 300 g of fresh strawberries
- A pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar (optional, for decoration)
- Vanilla extract or vanillin (optional, as a variant)
Note: If you don’t have baking powder, you could substitute it with a mix of baking soda and cream of tartar, or use self-rising flour.
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Melt the dark chocolate with the butter in a double boiler. Once melted, mix well and set aside to cool.
- In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the sugar until light and fluffy. If you wish, add vanilla extract or vanillin for an extra hint of flavor.
- Gently fold the melted chocolate into the egg and sugar mixture.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder and a pinch of salt, then add it to the previous mixture.
- Wash and cut the strawberries into pieces; pat them dry with kitchen paper to remove excess moisture and fold them gently into the mixture, distributing them evenly.
- Line a square baking tray with parchment paper, pour in the batter, and level with a spatula.
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes. The brownie is ready when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out slightly moist but not liquid.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool completely in the tray.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving if desired.
Serve this dessert with a dusting of powdered sugar or perhaps paired with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a true parade of flavors.
Curiosity
Brownies are a classic of American pastry, but the addition of fresh fruit like strawberries is a delicious way to give a touch of freshness and a more summery flavor to this dense chocolate dessert.
