Steamed Cod
17/11/2023I will guide you through the recipe to prepare a delicious steamed cod, a light and healthy dish. Steaming is ideal for preserving the nutritional qualities of the fish and its delicate flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 cod fillets (about 150-200 g each)
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley
- Extra virgin olive oil
Preparation
- Start by cleaning the cod fillets, making sure they are free of skin and bones.
- Sprinkle the fillets with salt and pepper and drizzle them with a bit of lemon juice. You can let them marinate for about 10 minutes to better absorb the flavors.
- Prepare your steamer or, if you don’t have one, use a colander placed over a pot with a little water at the bottom, making sure the water does not touch the cod. Remember to cover with a lid so as not to disperse the steam.
- Bring the water to a boil and place the cod fillets in the steamer basket or colander.
- Steam for about 8-10 minutes, or until the cod becomes opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
- Once cooked, gently transfer the cod onto a serving dish.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil before serving.
You could accompany the steamed cod with steamed vegetables as well, for a light and healthy meal. Don’t forget to serve the dish with a slice of lemon on the side, for those who wish to add a bit more acidity at the time of consumption.
