Spicy Salami Fritters
17/11/2023Spicy salami fritters are a tempting and original idea for a tasty appetizer or a flavorful snack. Here’s how to prepare them:
Ingredients
- 100 g of flour
- 1 egg
- 120 ml of milk
- 50 g of spicy salami (or ‘nduja if you prefer a more intense flavor)
- 1 teaspoon of instant yeast for savory preparations
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- Oil for frying
Preparation
- In a large bowl, mix the flour with the instant yeast, a pinch of salt, and pepper.
- In another bowl, beat the egg and add the milk, mixing well until you get a smooth mixture.
- Add the liquid mixture to the flour and stir vigorously to avoid the formation of lumps.
- Cut the spicy salami into small cubes and add them to the batter, stirring to distribute them evenly.
- Heat plenty of oil in a deep pan. To check when the oil is ready, you can dip the tip of a skewer: if small bubbles start forming around it, the oil is at the right temperature.
- Using two teaspoons, scoop small portions of batter and gently pour them into the boiling oil.
- Fry the fritters until they become golden and crispy on all sides, then drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve them hot and crispy.
Curiosity
Savory fritters are versatile and can be enriched with various ingredients such as cheeses, herbs, or other types of cured meats. This version with spicy salami is particularly appreciated for its strong and slightly spicy taste. In Italy, each region has its variants of fritters, often linked to local celebrations and holidays. For example, in Tuscany during Carnival, the famous salty cenci, similar to these fritters but enriched with anchovies and black pepper, are popular.
Happy cooking and enjoy your meal!
