Spicy Biscuits with Chocolate and Almonds

Ingredients

  • 200 g of all-purpose flour
  • 100 g of brown sugar
  • 100 g of room temperature butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 50 g of chopped almonds
  • 100 g of dark chocolate, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon of grated nutmeg

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, cream the butter with the brown sugar until you get a creamy mixture.
  2. Add the egg and continue to work until it’s well incorporated.
  3. Separately, combine the flour with the baking powder, salt, and spices (cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and nutmeg) and sift everything together.
  4. Add the flour and spice mixture to the creamed butter, sugar, and egg, mixing well until you get a uniform dough.
  5. Stir in the chopped dark chocolate and the chopped almonds.
  6. Shape the dough into small balls with your hands, flatten them slightly, and arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake the biscuits in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 10-12 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
  8. Allow the biscuits to cool on a wire rack before serving.
