Chocolate Snack

The “chocolate snack” can refer to many types of chocolate-based snacks, but here I provide you with a simple recipe for chocolate snacks that can be customized according to your tastes.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of dark chocolate
  • 50 g of nuts (hazelnuts, almonds, etc.) toasted and chopped
  • 30 g of dried fruit (raisins, apricots, etc.) chopped into small pieces
  • A pinch of sea salt (optional)
  • Spices to taste (cinnamon, chili powder, etc.) (optional)

Preparation

  1. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave being careful not to burn it. If using the microwave, heat the chocolate in 30-second intervals, stirring in between.
  2. Meanwhile, lightly toast the nuts in a pan without adding fats until they are golden and aromatic. Let them cool and then roughly chop them.
  3. If you are using dried fruit, make sure it is cut into not too large pieces.
  4. Once the chocolate is completely melted, add a pinch of salt, the spices (if desired), the nuts, and the dried fruit. Mix well to distribute evenly.
  5. On a sheet of parchment paper, pour the chocolate mixed with the fruit and nuts. You can pour it with a spoon to create individual snacks or spread it into one layer that you will break into pieces once it has solidified.
  6. Let the snacks cool in a cool and dry place or in the refrigerator until the chocolate has set.
  7. Break the chocolate into pieces if you have created one layer or, if you have formed individual snacks, detach them from the parchment paper.

You can store your chocolate snacks in a closed container in a cool and dry place or in the refrigerator to maintain crispness.

Trivia

Chocolate snacks are a convenient solution for those who love sweets but do not want to overdo it with portions. In addition, thanks to the possibility of varying the added ingredients, each batch can be a new adventure of flavors, adapting to the seasons as well: typical autumn nuts, warm spices in winter, tropical dried fruit in summer, and so on.
