17/11/2023Snack bars are a practical and tasty option for a quick snack. Here is a recipe for homemade energy bars, which you can customize with your favorite ingredients. You may choose to prepare these bars with a base of nuts, cereals, and a sweet binder like honey or agave syrup, for example.
Ingredients
- 200 g of oat flakes
- 100 g of nuts (such as almonds, walnuts, peanuts, by choice or in a mix)
- 50 g of seeds (such as sunflower, pumpkin, or chia seeds)
- 100 g of chopped dried fruit (like raisins, blueberries, apricots)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 100 ml of honey or agave syrup
- 50 g of peanut butter or other nut butter
Optional:
- Dark chocolate chips
- Spices like cinnamon or vanilla
- Orange/lemon zest or essence
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix the oats, chopped nuts, seeds, and dried fruit. Add the pinch of salt and any spices or chocolate chips.
- In a saucepan, heat the honey or agave syrup with the nut butter until they become a smooth and liquid mixture.
- Pour the warm liquid mixture onto the dry blend and mix well until all ingredients are well combined.
- Transfer the mixture to the tray and press down firmly with the back of a spoon to form an even and compact layer.
- Bake in the oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool completely before cutting the bars.
