Skillet Piadinpizza
17/11/2023Skillet Piadinpizza is a type of fusion between a piadina and a pizza, a creative and fun recipe that can be made in a skillet. Here is how to make a homemade version of Piadinpizza:
Ingredients
- 2 piadinas (you can buy them ready-made or prepare them at home with flour, water, salt, and baking soda)
- 200g of tomato puree or tomato sauce
- 150g of mozzarella (fiordilatte is better) or a cheese that melts well, diced or shredded
- Dry oregano to taste
- Salt to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Garnish ingredients of your choice, such as:
- Slices of salami
- Chopped olives
- Mushrooms in oil or fresh
- Strips of bell pepper
- Thinly sliced onion
- Capers
- etc.
Note: If you are using additional ingredients, make sure to prepare them before cooking, as in sautéing fresh mushrooms or sliced bell peppers in a skillet.
Preparation
-
Heat a non-stick skillet big enough to hold a piadina. There is no need to add oil as the piadinas already contain the necessary fats to prevent sticking.
-
Once the skillet is hot, place one piadina and let it warm up for about a minute, then flip it to the other side.
-
Spread some tomato sauce over the surface of the piadina, leaving about a centimeter from the edges, then season with a pinch of salt and oregano.
-
Add the mozzarella or the cheese you have chosen along with any other garnish ingredients you prefer.
-
Cover the skillet with a lid and cook on low heat until the cheese has melted and the ingredients are heated through, which will take about 5-7 minutes.
-
Once ready, slide the Piadinpizza onto a serving plate, let it cool for a minute, and then serve.
