Ingredients
- Very thin slices of meat (beef or veal), about 12
- Slices of prosciutto, 12
- Slices of cheese (such as provola or fontina), 12
- Sage, 12 leaves
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Toothpicks or long skewers
Preparation
- Take the meat slices and lightly pound them with a meat mallet to make them even thinner.
- Spread a slice of prosciutto and a slice of cheese on each meat slice. Add a sage leaf in the center.
- Roll up the rolls starting from the narrower end to keep the filling well sealed.
- Thread the rolls onto the skewers, alternating with pieces of vegetables such as bell peppers, onions, or cherry tomatoes if you wish.
- Dress the skewers with a drizzle of oil, salt, and pepper.
- Cook on a hot grill or a well-heated grill pan until the rolls are golden brown on all sides.
