Prawns in Spicy Sauce

Ingredients
- 400g of prawns, shelled and cleaned
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 fresh red chili pepper, chopped (or chili powder to taste)
- 200ml of tomato puree
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish
Preparation
- Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Add the chopped garlic and chili, frying them for a few minutes until they are aromatic but not burnt.
- Place the prawns in the pan and briefly sauté them on both sides (about 1-2 minutes per side), until they turn a bright pink color.
- Pour the tomato puree into the pan, mix well to integrate the prawns with the sauce.
- Lower the heat and let everything cook for about 5-10 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper according to your preference.
- Remove from the heat, plate the prawns, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
Serve the prawns in spicy sauce with crispy bread or as a one-dish meal with a side of rice for a more substantial dish.
