Chocolate Chip Semifreddo
17/11/2023The chocolate chip semifreddo is a fresh and scrumptious spoon dessert. Here is the recipe you can follow to prepare this delight.
Ingredients
- 250 ml of whipping cream
- 4 egg yolks
- 100 g of granulated sugar
- 1 sachet of vanillin or the seeds of 1 vanilla pod
- 200 g of dark chocolate (or milk chocolate, according to taste) chopped or in chips
- 50 ml of milk
- Dry biscuits to taste for the base (optional)
Preparation
- In a bowl, whip the egg yolks with the sugar and vanillin (or vanilla seeds) until you achieve a frothy and light cream.
- Gradually add the milk in a thin stream without stopping whisking.
- In another bowl, whip the cream until it is firm.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mixture of egg yolks, taking care not to deflate it.
- Add the chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate) and mix gently to distribute them evenly.
- If you choose to use a biscuit base, crush the dry biscuits and create a layer at the bottom of the molds you will use for the semifreddo.
- Pour the mixture into the molds over the biscuit base, if present, or directly into the molds.
- Place in the freezer for at least 4-6 hours until the semifreddo is well solidified.
Before serving, remove the semifreddo from the freezer and leave it at room temperature for 10-15 minutes to facilitate unmolding from the molds. If you wish, you can decorate with additional chocolate chips, chocolate sauce, or fresh fruit.
