17/11/2023Pasta with sausage and peppers is a rich and flavorful dish, typical of homely and comforting cooking. I’ll provide you with a classic version of the recipe, with an all-Italian twist. Here are the ingredients and the preparation:
Ingredients
- 320 g of pasta (such as penne or rigatoni)
- 250 g of pork sausage
- 2 bell peppers (one red and one yellow for a colorful dish)
- 1 small onion
- 400 g of tomato passata
- Extra virgin olive oil to taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- A pinch of chili pepper (optional)
- Grated Parmesan or parmigiano to garnish (optional)
Preparation
- Start by cleaning the peppers, removing the cores, seeds, and the white inner parts. Cut them into strips or pieces, depending on your preference.
- Peel the onion and finely chop it.
- In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until it becomes translucent.
- Remove the skin from the sausage, crumble it, and add it to the skillet. Let it brown for a few minutes until it starts to color.
- Add the peppers to the skillet with the sausage and let cook for about 10 minutes, until they soften.
- Pour the tomato passata into the skillet, add salt, pepper, and chili pepper if you like it a bit spicy. Let everything cook for about 15-20 minutes, until the sauce has reduced and the flavors have melded together.
- Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta following the instructions on the package to achieve al dente pasta.
- Drain the pasta and pour it into the skillet with the sausage and pepper sauce. Mix well to ensure the pasta is flavored with the sauce.
- Serve hot, with a sprinkling of Parmesan or parmigiano if desired.
This is a simple dish that allows you to appreciate the flavors of Italy. Enjoy your meal!
