Savory Salmon and Cheese Croissants
17/11/2023Savory croissants with salmon and cheese are a great idea for an elegant appetizer or buffet. Here is the recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 rectangular sheet of puff pastry
- 150 g of smoked salmon
- 100 g of cream cheese (like Philadelphia)
- 1 teaspoon of chopped dill (optional)
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Poppy or sesame seeds (for decorating, optional)
Preparation
-
Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
-
Unroll the puff pastry sheet and cut it into long, narrow triangles, as if you were preparing sweet croissants.
-
In a bowl, mix the cream cheese with the chopped dill until you have a smooth cream. If you like, you can add some black pepper or other herbs to taste.
-
Spread a bit of the cream cheese mixture onto each triangle of puff pastry.
-
Cut the smoked salmon into strips and lay them over the cream cheese, spreading evenly.
-
Roll the puff pastry triangles up from the wider base to the tip, forming croissants.
-
Bend the croissants slightly to give them the classic crescent shape.
-
Beat the egg in a small container and brush each croissant with the beaten egg. This will give them a nice golden color when baked.
-
Sprinkle the croissants with poppy or sesame seeds for added crunch and decoration.
-
Place the croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each one.
-
Bake the croissants for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffy.
-
Remove them from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
Remember that puff pastry should be worked quickly to prevent it from becoming too warm and losing its flakiness during baking.
