Savory Tartlets with Robiola

Here is how to prepare delicious savory tartlets with robiola. These are small and tasty appetizers that can be served during an aperitif or as the starter of a dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 250 g of robiola (or other soft cheese of your choice)
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 ml of cooking cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped chives (optional)
  • Poppy or sesame seeds (optional)
  • Butter for greasing the molds

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Take the puff pastry and with a pastry cutter or a glass cut out discs that fit the size of the molds you will use.
  3. Grease the molds and place a disc of puff pastry in each. Prick the bottom with a fork to prevent it from puffing up during baking.
  4. In a bowl, mix the robiola with the eggs, cream, a pinch of salt, and pepper to taste until you get a smooth mixture. If you wish, you can add chopped chives for an extra touch of flavor.
  5. Pour the robiola mixture into the prepared puff pastry shells in the molds.
  6. Sprinkle the surface of the tartlets with poppy or sesame seeds to add crunchiness and decoration.
  7. Bake the tartlets for about 20-25 minutes or until the surface is golden brown and the filling is well cooked.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes before unmolding.

Curiosity

Robiola is a fresh cheese of Italian origin, typical of the Piedmont and Lombardy regions. It is appreciated for its creaminess and is wonderfully suited for use in cooking, both in cold and hot dishes. In this recipe, it pairs perfectly with the buttery taste of the puff pastry, making the tartlets extremely delicious.

Enjoy your meal and become creative with combinations: robiola can be replaced with other creamy cheeses of your choice, such as goat cheese or ricotta for different variations of the dish.
