Paprika Savory Biscuits

Paprika savory biscuits are a perfect choice for an aperitif or a tasty snack. Here is the recipe to prepare them:

Ingredients

  • 250 g of flour
  • 100 g of cold butter, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon of sweet paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 50 g of grated cheese (Parmesan or Pecorino)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons of cold water (if necessary)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour with the paprika and salt.
  3. Add the cold butter and work the mixture with your fingertips until you get a sandy consistency.
  4. Stir in the grated cheese, then add the egg and knead to obtain a homogeneous mixture. If the dough is too dry, add a little cold water to help bind the ingredients.
  5. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until about 5 mm thick.
  6. Cut out the biscuits using a cookie cutter or a shape of your choice and place them on the prepared tray.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the biscuits are golden and crispy.
  8. Leave to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Fun Fact

Paprika, the main ingredient of this recipe, is a spice native to America but became especially popular in Hungarian cuisine. It not only gives flavor and color to dishes but also offers health benefits due to its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

For an even more Italian twist, you could add a pinch of oregano or chopped rosemary to the recipe, giving your biscuits a Mediterranean touch that pairs very well with cheese and paprika.
