Salmon Fillet with Green Pepper, Ginger, and Lime
17/11/2023The salmon fillet with green pepper, ginger, and lime is a dish that combines the bold flavors of pepper and ginger with the freshness of lime, perfect for an elegant dinner or special occasion. Here’s how to prepare this dish.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon fillets (150-200 g each)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of green peppercorns
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 1 small piece of fresh ginger (about 2 cm)
- Grated zest and juice of 1 lime
- 1 clove of garlic
- 100 ml of cooking cream or vegetable alternative
- Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Preparation
- Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a pan and add the whole garlic clove. Remove it as soon as it’s golden brown.
- Place the salmon fillets in the pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, until well browned. During cooking, also add the green peppercorns to flavor the oil.
- Meanwhile, peel and grate the ginger finely. You can adjust the quantity according to your taste.
- Deglaze the salmon with the lime juice and add the grated ginger.
- Remove the salmon fillets from the pan and keep them warm. In the same pan, pour the cream and bring to a light boil, grate some lime zest into it and stir for a few minutes until the sauce has slightly thickened.
- Plate the salmon and pour over the green pepper and ginger sauce, garnish with chopped fresh parsley and additional lime zest if desired.

Green pepper is the less mature and fresher version of pepper, known for its less piquant but more aromatic taste, which pairs well with the fatty flavor of salmon.
Remember to serve this dish with a fresh and aromatic white wine, like a Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc, which will wonderfully complement the flavors of the dish.
