Ingredients
- 2 demi baguettes (half long bread rolls, similar to mini baguettes)
- 200 g of smoked salmon
- 100 g of creamy cheese (such as Philadelphia or another spreadable cheese)

- In a bowl, mix the creamy cheese with the freshly chopped dill, lemon juice, and a pinch of freshly ground black pepper.
- Generously spread the creamy cheese mixture on the bottom half of each demi baguette.
- Arrange the smoked salmon evenly over the cheese.
- Add a sprinkling of capers and thin slices of red onion if you wish to add crunchiness and spiciness.
- If you like, add an additional pinch of black pepper on top of the salmon.
- Cover with the other halves of the baguettes, cut into desired portions, and serve immediately.
Fun Fact
Smoked salmon is a traditional preparation in many Nordic countries, where the fish is preserved through smoking. This process gives the salmon a unique flavor and a particular texture that pairs very well with fresh bread and creamy cheese. In Italy, we might vary this recipe by replacing the dill with fresh basil to achieve a Mediterranean touch.
