Rose-shaped Cake Pops

Rose-shaped cake pops are a particularly decorative version of the classic cake pops, those delicious bites of cake covered with frosting on a stick, which I personally find very fun to make. Here is the recipe to make rose-shaped cake pops:

Ingredients

  • 1 ready-made cake (vanilla or chocolate, according to preference)
  • 200 grams of cream cheese or ready-made frosting
  • 400 grams of white chocolate or colored candy melts
  • Red food coloring (if using white chocolate)
  • Lollipop sticks or cake pop sticks
  • Piping bag and petal-shaped nozzle

Preparation

  1. Finely crumble the cake in a large bowl until you get very small crumbs.
  2. Add the cream cheese or frosting to the crumbled cake and mix until the mixture is homogeneous and moldable.
  3. Take small portions of the mixture and form balls about 2-3 centimeters in diameter.
  4. Skewer each ball with a lollipop stick, cover, and place in the freezer for about 15-20 minutes, or in the fridge for an hour, until they are solid enough to be worked with.
  5. Meanwhile, melt the white chocolate or candy melts in a double boiler or microwave. If using white chocolate, once melted, add red food coloring until the desired shade is achieved.
  6. Dip the balls into the melted chocolate, making sure they are completely covered.
  7. Let the chocolate set for a moment, then start creating the rose petals using the piping bag with the petal-shaped nozzle.
  8. Starting from the base, around the stick, and moving upwards, apply the petals one by one, slightly overlapping them, until you form a complete rose.
  9. Allow the cake pops to completely dry by setting them upside down in a stand with holes or in a glass filled with rice or sugar to hold the stick in place.
  10. Once dry, the rose-shaped cake pops are ready to be served.

Curiosity

Cake pops can be customized with different types of decorations, but the rose shape is particularly suitable for occasions like holidays, Valentine’s Day, weddings, anniversaries, or simply to add a touch of elegance to a dessert table. Remember that patience is key when forming the rose petals with the piping bag, but the end result is definitely rewarding!
