Ricotta and Chocolate Doughnuts

Ricotta and chocolate doughnuts are soft, indulgent treats that are well-suited for both breakfast and snack time. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

  • 250 g of ricotta cheese
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 200 g of type 00 flour
  • 1/2 sachet of baking powder for sweets
  • A pinch of salt
  • 100 g of chocolate chips
  • Powdered sugar (for decoration)
  • Butter and flour for the mold (or parchment paper)

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, work the ricotta with the sugar until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  2. Add the egg and continue to mix.
  3. Gradually combine the sifted flour with the baking powder and pinch of salt, continuing to mix until the mixture is smooth and without lumps.
  4. Fold the chocolate chips into the batter.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  6. Prepare a doughnut mold by greasing it with butter and dusting it with flour, or by lining it with parchment paper.
  7. Fill the mold with the batter, being careful to fill it only up to 3/4 of the height, as the doughnuts will rise during baking.
  8. Bake the doughnuts for approximately 20-25 minutes or until they are golden and well risen.
  9. Remove the doughnuts from the oven and let them cool before unmolding.
  10. Dust the doughnuts with powdered sugar before serving.

Curiosity

In many Italian regions, ricotta is used in pastry making to add creaminess and a delicate flavor to sweets. The chocolate chips slightly melt during baking, creating a pleasant contrast in textures and flavors with the softer part of the doughnut.

Enjoy your preparation and bon appétit!
