Ricotta and Chocolate Braids
17/11/2023Ricotta and chocolate braids are simple and delicious sweets that combine the freshness of ricotta with the sweetness of chocolate in a soft and pleasant dough to the palate. Here’s how to make them.
Ingredients
- 500 g of flour
- 250 g of ricotta
- 120 g of sugar
- 80 g of softened butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 packet of baking powder for sweets
- 1 pinch of salt
- 100 g of chocolate chips
- Icing sugar (for decorating)
Preparation
- In a large bowl, sift the flour and the baking powder for sweets.
- Add the pinch of salt and mix.
- In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta with sugar, softened butter, and eggs. Work the ingredients until you have a homogeneous mixture.
- Add the ricotta mixture to the flour, incorporating well all the ingredients until you have a smooth and homogeneous dough.
- Add the chocolate chips to the dough and mix gently to distribute them evenly.
- Take small pieces of dough and roll them with your hands to form long cylinders.
- Cut each cylinder into three equal parts and braid them to form the classic braid shape. Proceed in the same way with all of the dough.
- Place the braids on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and, once ready, bake the braids for about 20-25 minutes or until they are golden on the outside.
- Let the braids cool on a wire rack and, before serving, sprinkle them with icing sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
