Ricotta and Chocolate Braids

Ricotta and chocolate braids are simple and delicious sweets that combine the freshness of ricotta with the sweetness of chocolate in a soft and pleasant dough to the palate. Here’s how to make them.

Ingredients

  • 500 g of flour
  • 250 g of ricotta
  • 120 g of sugar
  • 80 g of softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 packet of baking powder for sweets
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 100 g of chocolate chips
  • Icing sugar (for decorating)

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, sift the flour and the baking powder for sweets.
  2. Add the pinch of salt and mix.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the ricotta with sugar, softened butter, and eggs. Work the ingredients until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  4. Add the ricotta mixture to the flour, incorporating well all the ingredients until you have a smooth and homogeneous dough.
  5. Add the chocolate chips to the dough and mix gently to distribute them evenly.
  6. Take small pieces of dough and roll them with your hands to form long cylinders.
  7. Cut each cylinder into three equal parts and braid them to form the classic braid shape. Proceed in the same way with all of the dough.
  8. Place the braids on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  9. Preheat the oven to 180°C and, once ready, bake the braids for about 20-25 minutes or until they are golden on the outside.
  10. Let the braids cool on a wire rack and, before serving, sprinkle them with icing sugar for an extra touch of sweetness.
