Ingredients

  • 3 medium-sized Renetta apples
  • 250 g of flour 00
  • 200 g of granulated sugar
  • 100 g of melted butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 packet of baking powder
  • Grated zest of 1 untreated lemon
  • A pinch of salt
  • Icing sugar (for decoration)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Peel the apples, remove the cores and cut them into cubes or slices, as you prefer.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until a frothy and clear mixture is obtained.
  4. Add the warm melted butter to the egg and sugar mixture, mixing well.
  5. Incorporate the sifted flour with the baking powder, a pinch of salt, and the grated lemon zest, mixing gently to avoid lumps.
  6. Add the apple pieces to the mixture and blend carefully.
  7. Pour the batter into a previously buttered and floured donut mold.
  8. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until when inserting a toothpick in the center, it comes out clean.
  9. Let the donut cool in the oven, then turn it out onto a wire rack.
  10. When completely cool, dust with icing sugar.
