Puff Pastry Tie

Puff pastry ties are a delicious snack that is very simple to prepare. Here I explain how they can be made:

Ingredients

  • 1 rectangular roll of puff pastry,
  • granulated sugar to taste,
  • 1 egg yolk (for brushing).

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. Gently unroll the puff pastry and lay it out on a work surface.
  3. Sprinkle the surface of the puff pastry with granulated sugar to taste, enough to create a thin layer.
  4. Roll the rolling pin over the puff pastry with the sugar to make the sugar stick well to the dough.
  5. Turn the puff pastry over and repeat the operation of sprinkling sugar on the other side.
  6. Cut the puff pastry into strips about 2 cm wide.
  7. Take each strip by the ends and twist it gently to give it the shape of a tie.
  8. Transfer the ties to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Lightly beat the egg yolk and brush the surface of the ties to give them a more intense tanning during cooking.
  10. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the ties are golden and crispy.
  11. Once ready, let them cool a moment before serving.

Curiosity

This is a very versatile sweet snack that can be customized in many ways. For example, before twisting the puff pastry strips, you can sprinkle the sugar with a little cinnamon for a spicy touch, or even with grated citrus zest for a citrusy scent. The puff pastry ties are perfect to serve during a sweet aperitif or as a mid-afternoon snack, but paired with custard cream or chocolate mousse, they can become a delicious dessert.
