17/11/2023The puff pastry pinwheel with fruit and chocolate is a delicious dessert that is quite simple to prepare. It’s ideal for a sweet snack or as a dessert after a meal.
Ingredients
- 1 rectangular roll of puff pastry
- 100 g of dark chocolate
- Fresh fruit of your choice (e.g., strawberries, bananas, kiwi, or for an exotic touch, perhaps pineapple or mango)
- 1 egg yolk (for brushing)
- Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Roll out the puff pastry on a work surface and cut it into squares of about 10x10 cm.
- Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place some at the center of each square of puff pastry.
- Wash, dry, and cut the chosen fruit into small pieces and place them on top of the chocolate in the puff pastry squares.
- Make cuts from the corners of the puff pastry squares towards the center, stopping about 1 cm from the fruit.
- Alternately roll the corners towards the center to create the pinwheel shape.
- Brush each pinwheel with the beaten egg yolk. This will give the pinwheels a nice golden color when baked.
- Arrange the pinwheels on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Bake the pinwheels for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Let them cool slightly before serving, and if you wish, dust them with powdered sugar.
For an even more special touch, you can serve the pinwheels accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream or fruit sauce.
