Puff pastry pizzette

Ingredients

  • 1 roll of ready-made rectangular puff pastry
  • 200 g of tomato sauce
  • 150 g of mozzarella for pizza or other melting cheese
  • Dried oregano to taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • A pinch of sugar
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C (180 °C fan assisted).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry and with a pastry cutter or a glass, cut out discs.
  3. Place the puff pastry discs on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  4. In a bowl, season the tomato sauce with a drizzle of oil, a pinch of sugar, salt, and oregano to taste. Mix well.
  5. Spread a tablespoon of seasoned tomato sauce on each puff pastry disc, leaving a small free edge.
  6. Cut the mozzarella or cheese into cubes and distribute evenly over the pizzette.
  7. Bake the puff pastry pizzette for about 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.
  8. Remove the pizzette from the oven and, if you wish, add a few leaves of fresh basil before serving.
