Beef slices pizzaiola is a tasty and simple dish. Here you will find the recipe with the addition of potatoes to make it a one-course meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of beef (or veal)
  • 500 g of potatoes
  • 400 g of tomato purée
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Oregano to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sliced mozzarella or fiordilatte to taste (optional)
  • Black olives (optional)
  • Capers (optional)
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by peeling the potatoes and slicing them thinly or cubing them, according to your preference.
  2. Heat a drizzle of oil in a large pan and sauté the garlic until golden brown.
  3. Add the beef slices and brown them on both sides. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Once the slices are golden, remove the garlic and add the tomato purée.
  5. Add the potatoes to the pan, together with the slices and tomato purée. If you like, you can also add some black olives, capers, or basil to enhance the flavor. Cover with a lid and cook over medium heat for 15-20 minutes, turning the slices occasionally and stirring the potatoes.
  6. Check the potatoes with a fork; when they are tender, sprinkle the fiordilatte or mozzarella over the beef slices and let it melt with the residual heat.
  7. Finally, dust with oregano to add that extra touch of flavor and aroma.

Serve the beef slices pizzaiola hot, perhaps with some bread to mop up the sauce.
