Piadina Roses

Piadina roses are a tasty and visually appealing appetizer. Perfect for a buffet or to start a dinner with friends, they are a creative and delicious version of the more traditional use of piadinas.

Ingredients

  • 4 piadinas
  • 200 g of raw ham
  • 200 g of spreadable cheese (such as Philadelphia)
  • 100 g of arugula
  • Extra virgin olive oil (optional)

Preparation

  1. Lay the piadina on a flat surface.
  2. Spread a generous amount of cream cheese over the entire surface.
  3. Distribute the raw ham on top of the cream cheese and then add the arugula (if desired, you can dress the arugula with a drizzle of oil to add more flavor).
  4. Roll up the piadina with all the ingredients inside, making sure to apply some pressure so that the roll is compact.
  5. Once you have the piadina roll, cut it into chunks about 2 cm wide.
  6. Place the chunks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring that the spiral is visible.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees C for about 10-15 minutes, or until they are slightly golden.
  8. Let them cool slightly before serving.

Piadina roses can be customized with various ingredients: you can change the type of cold cut or add different vegetables, such as dried tomatoes or fresh spinach. Additionally, you can use whole wheat or flavored piadinas for an extra touch of flavor.

Curiosity

The piadina, or piada, is a typical preparation from the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. Historically, it was considered the bread of the poor, but today it is appreciated for its versatility and lends itself to various interpretations, such as in the case of piadina roses, which represent a sophisticated and creative version.
