Penne with Crab Meat

Penne with crab meat is a refined and tasty first course that combines the sweetness of crab meat with the simplicity of pasta. Here is the recipe for this delicious dish:

Ingredients

  • 350 g of penne rigate
  • 200 g of crab meat (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 250 ml of cooking cream
  • 100 ml of dry white wine
  • Chopped parsley to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Start by boiling a pot of water for the pasta. Once the water reaches a boil, salt it and cook the penne rigate according to the package instructions to achieve an al dente texture.

  2. In the meantime, take a pan and sauté the peeled garlic clove in a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Once the garlic becomes golden, remove it from the pan to prevent burning.

  3. Add the crab meat to the pan and briefly sauté. Deglaze with the white wine and allow the alcohol to evaporate over medium-high heat.

  4. Lower the heat and add the cooking cream. Let the sauce thicken slightly for about 5 minutes, adjusting the salt and pepper according to your taste.

  5. Drain the al dente penne and pour them into the pan with the sauce. Stir well to ensure the pasta is evenly flavored.

  6. Sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley before serving.

  7. Plate and, if desired, garnish with a sprinkling of black pepper and a drizzle of raw oil.

For an even more Italian touch, you could add, at the end of cooking, a handful of grated Parmesan cheese to give creaminess and flavor.

Curiosity

In addition to being tasty, crab meat is also very nutritious. It is rich in proteins and contains Omega-3s, which are known for their beneficial properties for cardiovascular health. In Italy, especially in the coastal regions, many seafood-based dishes are appreciated, and this first course is no exception, combining simple ingredients with flavors of the sea.
