Pear and Chocolate Cookies

Pear and chocolate cookies are delicious treats that combine the sweetness of pears with the richness of chocolate. Here is a recipe that could be right for you.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of flour
  • 100 g of soft butter
  • 80 g of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 ripe but firm pear
  • 100 g of dark chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, or using a hand mixer, cream the soft butter with the sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the egg and continue to mix until well incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the flour with the baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the butter, sugar, and egg mixture, mixing until you get a smooth dough.
  6. Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and cube the pear after peeling it.
  7. Add the chocolate pieces and pear to the dough and fold gently to distribute them evenly.
  8. With your hands, form dough balls and flatten them slightly to shape the cookies. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
  9. Bake for about 15-20 minutes or until the cookies are golden around the edges.
  10. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.

Fun Facts

These cookies combine typical autumnal ingredients like pears and chocolate. In some regions of Italy, it is common to find rustic sweets that combine seasonal fruit with dark chocolate, especially during the holidays when there is a particular emphasis on local products.

If you prefer a more Italian touch, you could use almond flour instead of some of the wheat flour to add a nutty flavor that will complement both the pears and the chocolate very well. Enjoy your meal!
