Pear, Amaretti, and Chocolate Pie
17/11/2023I can describe to you how to prepare a delightful Pear, Amaretti, and Chocolate Pie. It’s a perfect mix of sweet flavors and different textures that combine to create a truly special cake. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 1 roll of shortcrust pastry (or sweet pastry dough if you prefer)
- 4-5 ripe pears, peeled and cut into pieces
- 100 g of amaretti biscuits
- 100 g of dark chocolate
- 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of flour
- 1 egg (for brushing the pastry)
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
- Powdered sugar (for decoration, optional)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
- Roll out the shortcrust pastry and gently lay it into a pie dish, letting the edge slightly overhang and prick the bottom with a fork.
- In a bowl, mix together the pear pieces with the brown sugar, flour, and lemon juice. If you wish, add a pinch of cinnamon for a touch of spice.
- Crumble the amaretti biscuits and chop the dark chocolate into small pieces.
- Distribute a first layer of amaretti crumbs on the pastry base, followed by the chocolate pieces and finally the pear mix.
- If you have enough pastry, you can create strips or a lattice to lay over the filling. Otherwise, simply fold the edges of the pastry inward on itself to close the pie.
- Beat the egg and brush the surface of the pastry with it to give it shine and color during baking.
- Bake the pie for about 45 minutes or until the pastry is golden and the filling is slightly caramelized.
- Allow the pie to cool before dusting it with powdered sugar, if desired.
Trivia
The Pie is a classic of Anglo-Saxon pastry that lends itself to many interpretations. The combination of pears, amaretti, and chocolate is a sumptuous variation that brings together fresh fruit with typical Italian flavors like the amaretti.
This cake can be served warm or at room temperature and is perfect accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream. Enjoy your meal!
