Peaches in Puff Pastry

Peaches in puff pastry are an elegant and delicious dessert, perfect as the conclusion of a refined dinner or as a dessert to serve on special occasions. Here’s how to prepare them.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe but still firm peaches
  • 1 roll of puff pastry
  • 30 g of melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 egg (for brushing)
  • Powdered sugar (for decorating)
  • Cinnamon to taste (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  2. Wash the peaches and cut them in half, removing the pits.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into squares large enough to wrap around each half of the peach.
  4. Place a peach half in the center of each puff pastry square, with the cut side facing up.
  5. Sprinkle a bit of brown sugar and some melted butter over each peach half. If you wish, you can also add a pinch of cinnamon for a spicy touch.
  6. Fold the puff pastry over the peach, sealing it well on the sides to form a sort of well-sealed package. You can give the pastry any shape you prefer, for example, “gluing” the edges with a bit of beaten egg.
  7. Brush the outside with beaten egg on each wrapped peach to obtain a golden surface once baked.
  8. Arrange the peaches in puff pastry on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden and crispy.
  10. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  11. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar for an even more delicious effect.

Curiosity

Peaches in puff pastry are a dessert that lends itself to many variations: you can enrich the filling with dried fruit such as almonds or pine nuts, or add a touch of liqueur to flavor. Moreover, they can be accompanied by English cream or vanilla ice cream for a contrast of temperatures and textures.
