Ingredients
- 320 g of pasta (penne, fusilli, or another shape of your choice)
- 200 g of canned tuna in oil, drained
- 150 g of frozen or fresh peas
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Water for cooking the pasta
- (Optional) A pinch of chili pepper
- (Optional) Chopped parsley for garnish
Preparation
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil to cook the pasta. Once boiling, add the pasta and cook according to the instructions on the package.
- Meanwhile, in a frying pan, heat the extra virgin olive oil and sauté the chopped onion until it becomes translucent.
- Add the peas to the pan and, if they are frozen, let them cook for a few minutes with a bit of water until they are cooked but still crunchy.
- Add the drained tuna, flaking it well with a fork, and let everything simmer for a few minutes. Adjust with salt and pepper, and if you like, add a pinch of chili pepper.
- When the pasta is al dente, drain it, saving a cup of the cooking water, and transfer it to the pan with the tuna and peas.
- Mix the pasta well with the sauce, adding some of the reserved cooking water if necessary to make it creamier.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
