Pasta with Peas and Tuna
17/11/2023Here is a simple recipe for pasta with peas and tuna, perfect for a quick and tasty meal.
Ingredients
- 320 grams of pasta (penne, fusilli, or another shape of your choice)
- 1 can of tuna in oil (about 160 grams)
- 200 grams of fresh or frozen peas
- 1 small onion
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- (Optional) Chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Preparation
-
Start with the onion: peel it and slice it finely. Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet and then add the onion, sautéing until it becomes translucent.
-
Add the peas to the skillet (if they are frozen, it is not necessary to thaw them beforehand). Cover with a lid and let cook for about 10 minutes (if they are fresh they may need a few more minutes), adding a little water if necessary to prevent sticking.
-
Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a pot with plenty of salted water following the package instructions to achieve ‘al dente’ cooking.
-
Drain the tuna from the excess oil and shred it with a fork.
-
When the peas are almost cooked, add the shredded tuna to the skillet, mixing gently so as not to break up the pieces of tuna too much.
-
Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce in the skillet. Mix well to flavor, adjusting salt and pepper to your taste.
-
(Optional) Serve the pasta garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
