Pasta with Peas and Tuna

Here is a simple recipe for pasta with peas and tuna, perfect for a quick and tasty meal.

Ingredients

  • 320 grams of pasta (penne, fusilli, or another shape of your choice)
  • 1 can of tuna in oil (about 160 grams)
  • 200 grams of fresh or frozen peas
  • 1 small onion
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • (Optional) Chopped fresh parsley for garnish

Preparation

  1. Start with the onion: peel it and slice it finely. Heat the extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet and then add the onion, sautéing until it becomes translucent.

  2. Add the peas to the skillet (if they are frozen, it is not necessary to thaw them beforehand). Cover with a lid and let cook for about 10 minutes (if they are fresh they may need a few more minutes), adding a little water if necessary to prevent sticking.

  3. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a pot with plenty of salted water following the package instructions to achieve ‘al dente’ cooking.

  4. Drain the tuna from the excess oil and shred it with a fork.

  5. When the peas are almost cooked, add the shredded tuna to the skillet, mixing gently so as not to break up the pieces of tuna too much.

  6. Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce in the skillet. Mix well to flavor, adjusting salt and pepper to your taste.

  7. (Optional) Serve the pasta garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
