Ice Cream Stuffed Panettone
17/11/2023Here is a recipe for Ice Cream Stuffed Panettone, a delight that brings together two great classics of Italian cuisine: panettone and ice cream. Remember, this might not be a traditional recipe, but it will surely be a scrumptious combination. If you don’t have a ready-made panettone, you can purchase a quality one or prepare one following a specific recipe for panettone.
Ingredients
- 1 panettone (about 1kg)
- 1 liter of ice cream of your choice (vanilla, chocolate, stracciatella, etc.)
- 100g of candied fruit (optional)
- 50g of dark chocolate shavings (optional)
- Orange-flavored liqueur or alchermes (optional for flavoring)
Preparation
- Cut the top off the panettone as if it were a lid, about 3-4 cm from the edge.
- Gently hollow out the inside of the panettone, leaving about a 2 cm layer attached to the crust to create a “panettone box”. Remove the large crumbs and set them aside for another use.
- Allow the ice cream to soften slightly until it becomes malleable.
- If desired, mix the softened ice cream with chopped candied fruit or chocolate shavings.
- Fill the hollow in the panettone with the ice cream, pressing gently to fill all spaces.
- Put the “lid” of panettone back on top.
- Place the ice cream-stuffed panettone in the freezer for a few hours until the ice cream has hardened.
- Before serving, you can brush the top of the panettone with some liqueur if you like.
- Slice the ice cream-stuffed panettone and serve.
