Baked Stuffed Pancarrè Roll-ups

Here’s how to prepare delicious baked stuffed pancarrè roll-ups, a simple and fast recipe, ideal for a tasty appetizer or a drink with friends.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of crustless pancarrè
  • 150 g of sliced cooked ham
  • 150 g of sliced cheese (mozzarella, scamorza, fontina, or other cheese that melts well)
  • 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 egg
  • Breadcrumbs as needed
  • Butter as needed
  • Salt as needed
  • Pepper as needed (optional)

Preparation

  1. Start by preheating the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Take the pancarrè slices and, using a rolling pin, slightly flatten them to make them more flexible.
  3. On the pancarrè slices, lay a slice of cooked ham and then a slice of cheese, leaving a small border free on the sides.
  4. Roll up the stuffed pancarrè on themselves, forming tightly rolled roll-ups.
  5. In a bowl, beat the egg with milk, a pinch of salt, and, if you wish, a sprinkling of pepper.
  6. Dip the roll-ups in the beaten egg, making sure they are evenly moistened.
  7. Then, roll the roll-ups in breadcrumbs, ensuring they are completely coated.
  8. Place the roll-ups on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and put a small piece of butter on top of each roll-up, so they will become golden and crispy during baking.
  9. Bake the roll-ups for about 15-20 minutes or until they are golden brown and the cheese inside has melted.
  10. Take them out of the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
