Pan-Seared Salmon
17/11/2023Here is the recipe to prepare a delicious Italian-style pan-seared salmon.
Ingredients
- 4 salmon steaks (150-200 g each)
- 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 clove of garlic
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
In addition to these main ingredients, we can add an Italian touch with a bit of white wine to deglaze the salmon. Also, although they are not listed, consider that you might want to serve the salmon with vegetables of your choice, such as sautéed spinach or asparagus.
Preparation
- Dry the salmon steaks well with paper towels and season them with salt and pepper on both sides.
- In a large skillet, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic clove and let it brown until it is aromatic.
- Place the salmon steaks in the skillet, skin-side down. Cook for about 3-4 minutes.
- Gently turn the salmon steaks and cook for another 3-4 minutes on the flesh side. If you decided to use white wine, now is the time to deglaze: pour a little wine into the skillet and let the alcohol evaporate on high heat for a minute.
- Lower the heat, cover the skillet, and let cook for another 2-3 minutes or until the salmon is cooked to the desired doneness.
- Squeeze the lemon juice over the salmon and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Fun Fact
Salmon is a fish rich in Omega-3 and high-quality proteins. It’s important not to overcook it to maintain its tender and juicy consistency. In Italy, especially in the North, it is also appreciated raw, in carpaccio, simply dressed with oil, salt, and lemon.
Enjoy your meal!
