Pan-fried swordfish

Pan-fried swordfish is a simple and delicious dish, typical of Mediterranean cuisine. Here’s how to prepare it:

Ingredients

  • 4 swordfish steaks (about 200 g each)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Lemon juice
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  1. Start by preheating a large pan over medium-high heat and lightly brushing the swordfish steaks with a drizzle of oil.
  2. Place the swordfish steaks in the hot pan and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, until they become golden brown. Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the steaks.
  3. During cooking, season the swordfish with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Crush the garlic cloves with the flat side of a knife and add them to the pan with the swordfish to flavor it. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  5. Just before finishing cooking, sprinkle the swordfish steaks with lemon juice and sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley.
  6. Check that the fish is cooked perfectly but still juicy inside, then remove the garlic and serve immediately.

This dish can be accompanied by a fresh Mediterranean salad or grilled vegetables for a complete and balanced meal.

Curiosity

Swordfish is highly appreciated in cooking for its firm flesh and delicate taste. It is important not to overcook it to avoid it becoming dry. In addition, it is a tradition in Sicily to marinade it with a sauce made from oil, lemon, garlic, and oregano before grilling or pan-frying.
